Benelli m4 optic rail deforming

Hey guys, so I took my Eotech 512 off my m4 the other day to use my ghost sights for hunting. After I got home and cleaned the shotgun I noticed that my rail is starting to deform on one of the rail stubs. I do NOT over torque my sights, I finger tighten the sight and give it a 60 degree or so turn with a coin to snug it. I am unsure of how only the one stub is deforming as it is not in contact with anything sharp or protruding.

Is it possible that this is just a side effect of Benelli not using to spec optic rails, or is this a warranty issue. (Is it possible that the recoil from full power loads is enough to warp the rail during prolonged shooting sessions?) Thanks guys any help or insight is appreciated.

PS: I also did a bit of research and it seems like a lot of people have some trouble with the OEM Benelli optic rail.

I've heard a lot about this problem over the years.

All I can say is, considering the price of the gun, the organizations that its in service with, and the fact that its been around for nearly 14 years now, you'd think they'd have fixed the rail issue by now?

Can you post a pic ? I have not seen this before but as 870P said, it is a big disconcerting given the intended end user...

Had not noticed any changes on your POI with your Eotech ?

I'm using my iPhone so pictures are hard to post. As far as I can tell, the Eotech holds zero, I went out and fired 35 3" magnum slugs to test and observe any change in zero and nothing as of yet, everything is solid on the rail but I'm just puzzled as to how only one of the rail stubs seems to be getting squished. I just noticed the same thing on my Benelli supernova after mounting and removing the same sight probably a month ago. I took it off and checked the underside of the sight and it is exactly the same as the 512 mounted on my ACR.

Probably out-of-spec on both rails.

The rail screws, and their threads into the aluminum receiver on the M4, can be another source of issues appearantly.

It doesn't look or seem like the rails are out of spec. One thing I've noticed is that these rails don't seem to be anodized to the same level as others, they seem to mark and wear away very easily. I don't normally shoot low-powered loads through my shotguns so I'm starting to wonder if the recoil from heavy loads is putting stress on the rail stub. Any thoughts?

I'm not an expert in this, but I read some time ago on the Benelli forum that along with having a sight channel down the center, they are not to spec in some other parameters. A lot of folks over ther seemed to replace their's with various aftermarket setups.

The rail has to be out of spec if you have enough damaged from recoil to see it -unless you are talking about mark made from mounting the optic.
Also could be the non mil spec type 111 finish.
Its not like benelli to have issues like that. But could be a bad batch.
I'd like to know more. As an M4 in my next buy.

Hey guys, so I found a picture that shows exactly what is happening. I hope this link works. Please note it is the top rail.

Also, would you guys recommend completely removing the optic and just running the ghost sights?

I would like to ask a favor of those so inclined to post pictures of what their rails look like after mounting optics. I am not afraid to do so if it will simpy come to a point and stop, but if it will cause permanent damage I may have to rethink my options. Anything at all is very appreciated.
