Benelli M4 restricted?

Hey guys, can anyone tell me if Benelli M4 was always restricted? Or is this something recently re-classified? For some reason I was under the impression that this gun was non-restricted.

Mine is non restricted

there are two models

14" restricted

18.5 Non restricted

14" 'entry' model is restricted due to barrel length. The 'normal' 18.5" version is non-restricted.

Ahhhhh so it's the barrel length, that's what confused me, I was looking at a bunch of sites such as Ellwood Epps and Wolverine Supplies and was confused when I saw "restricted" next to the gun, I totally failed to notice the barrel length.

This is a M4 thats restricted. 14"

The Hatsan MP-A below has an 18" barrel for scale.

M4 is a Semi-Auto. Anything semi-auto with a barrel less than 18.5 = restricted.
