I'm looking at getting a M4 Benelli and was hoping to get some advice.
Is there any other shotguns I should consider before closing the deal?
Does the Benelli run as clean as I have heard?
Is there a downside to this shotgun?
Thanks in advance for the advice

The fabarm Sat-8 is the closest option, AND about $6-800 cheaper. The Benelli is Bad ass. I have handled a HK, but I have a fabarm pump and they are top notch.

I believe the Sat- 8 is running $1350 or so, drop these guys a line:

ive read some problems with the SAT-8 and lighter loads but thats it, persoanlly id roll with a FABARM but pump

damn, i think im going to buy a fabarm for christmas, short barrelled of course!

I like mine :D

I've only had it for a couple weeks (only 1 range trip so far)

Put a hundred rounds through it, no cleanring beforehand.

The thing took literally 2 minutes to clean. I ran a boresnake through it once, and took the carrier out and wiped it down. Done. It runs very clean, the mark23 required at least 15 minutes to clean everything with the same, about 100 rounds through it.

It is nice and light (with the aluminum reciever) and fits very well. I did notice the stock cheek piece will kick you in the face if your too close, but recoil is very mild for a shotgun. Its got a nice trigger too, heavy but crisp.

Personally, i say IF YOU HAVE THE CASH then go for it! Its a very nice shotgun, VERY nicely built, its light, and easy to maintain! Cant say i have experiance with any other semi shotguns though!

If theres one thing thats a bit of a drawback, its that the whole action is not quite as "simple" as a pump gun (obviously)

The whole principle is based on the little lock-back-switch to the right of the trigger gaurd, and the bolt release (which is quite small and a PITA to hit, but i think they make oversized bolt release buttons). The safety is a little hard to put ON, but this isn't a big deal IMHO.

If you do something like pull the bolt back, then let it go a bit forewards till the shell lifter comes up, then pull it back again, the carrier will get locked back untill you push the lifter down with your finger, but if your not holding the bolt back, it'll eat your finger for breakfast! (learned this the hard way :p)

But once you figure the action system out (bolt lock back=trigger gaurd button. bolt forewards=bolt release button) and dont try anything fancy, its pretty simple.

Theres also a neat trick for it, i can tell you if you PM me, im not 100% sure of the legality of it (im sure its fine) but its cool :D (not bump firing :p)

I've tried a lot of shotgun and my benelli M4 is the best I ever had. I just changed the collaspible stock for the pistol grip stock. It fits my needs better.

The seconds best action is the one you can found on the Beretta extrema2. The action spring is around the mag tube. Simply genious. But unfortunately, they don't make a tactical version of the extrema2.

got mine in july waited a year and a half! If you like machine guns you'll love this. Rapid firing is very addicting. Downside I found that it doesn't cycle the cheapest shells sometimes. The dollar more per box ones, no problem. Remem. Must take apart gas pistons to actually clean inside, very easy. Oh, and buy choke for slugs only comes with mod. Another shotgun? probally the extrema X2 beretta or the winchester SX3 about a grand cheaper Check out you tube see them in action in espcially flanigan with the X2 & SX3, 12 rnds in 1.4 sec. More versility hunting skeet etc... M4 more tact. combat, but it's cooler and scarier! or if your like me buy all three

Coolest shotgun on the market. Also one of the fastest firing semi shotguns (second only to the inertia-driven M1 Super 90). It's really well made and the ergonomics are pretty good, the full length barrel does it make it a BIG SOB. One thing I would do is replace the small charging handle lever with an oversized one from GG&G.
