A bottle of lube was in the box and it smells exactly like WD40. Its very thin in viscosity also. I was told very loudly by a gun store owner to never use WD40 in a gun.

He's right that you shouldn't use WD40 as a gun oil - since it's not really an oil.
Any normal proper gun oil will be every bit as good as the MF-82.
