Hi there,

Just bought a Tac Star side saddle shell holder for my Benelli and I need to remove the trigger group pin.

I tried and I can't seem to figure it out.

So I was hoping some Benelli m4 owners with side saddle shell holders please help me with this.

Really appreciate the help!

If you are talking about the cross pin that holds in the trigger group, you can push it out with a punch or the "proper" tool which is the firing pin.

It doesn't screw in.

Not sure about the tacstar, but my mesa did not require replacing that pin.

Mesa x 2. Just replaces the original rail, 15 in/lbs + blue Loctite.

Sorry for this next bit, I tried not to, but I've gotta brand cheer-lead a bit.

If you're still in a position to consider the Mesa, I can tell you it probably is worth the price. Its all aluminum except for the internal neoprene round grippers that hold the shells. Its fit to the m4 is flawless and its easy to install. I got the 8 rd one from Borwnells. It looks like too much in the pictures but it fits so that none of the shells interfere with the trigger area. They do, of course have the 6 rounder too. Not bashing tacstar, I have one on my 590. I'm just aware that the Mesa looks awfully pricey, until you get your hands on one, and we are talkin M4's here ;).

I know that you can tap the pin out... But the tac star saddle requires complete removal and replacement of the pin. The description of the saddle never indicated it would be this complicated. I kinda wish I did get the Mesa one, but unfortunately I've already bought this one and I'd like to try and make it work.

Im not following here, you say you tap the pin out and replace it with one from the kit? On my supernova, there is a larger head on one end and the other end is the diameter of the pin's shank. They are pushed out from the small end (ejection window side on SN) Then the new pin (bolt) slides through and threads into the side saddle? If you over-tighten it will crush the reciever walls in causing internals to bind. And +1 for Mesa, once you get it out of the package, the extra money you spent becomes so worth it. Both of mine fit like factory parts and work very well. Plus they look alot better than cheapie plastic parts.

Well the pin is pushed out of the trigger group through the smaller end (ejection side). But the pin itself needs to be removed completely from the receiver and replaced with the supplied one from tac star. The pin can be pushed out only enough so that the trigger group can be freed but does not actually push out enough to leave the reciever. Upon further inspection it seems to be held in place by some small parts. I do not know how to remove these parts to allow for pin removal.

Any tac star side saddle owners know what to do?

Get a longer punch. The pin will come out of the receiver.
