Benelli M4

Soft on shoulder, accurate with slugs, got nice ghostring sights, picatinny rail for optics your desires, collapsible stock and quite short of a gun too. Simple to dissasemble and to clean. Its also very reliable once broke in correctly.

Its heavy though, being built for combat and it shows on the scale. Its loud too due to its short barrel. "The" negative is the price, its pretty high compared to most tactical shotguns.

I really like my Benelli M4. Yes, it is expensive, but for what you get for the money it is excellent value. I like the variable screw-in chokes, means I can use it for anything a shotgun can do. The ghost ring sights are almost perfect, I mounted a HoloSight on the top rail as well. The barrel length, size when folded and the sling locations make it an ideal gun to carry as a bear defense, snake gun or all-purpose hunting arm.

So far I have just had it out at the range five or six times, but have been impressed with the results for slugs, 00 buck and #4 buck. Second-shot accuracy is excellent! This is the nicest all-around shotgun I have owned, and I have had a number of them from Stoeger and Rossi coach guns(still like the little shotguns) to Mossbergs, Savage and 870's. Admittedly, it probably cost more than the total resale value of most of the shotguns I have ever owned . . . but that's not the point! Right? And the cool factor is inescapable. Even though that is not why we buy them . . . you have to admit, the cool factor is important.

I have a question, too, though. The upland game loads I had in the back of my ammo trunk patterned ok, but did not have enough power to cycle the action. I am wondering what loads, if any, will cycle the action reliably for upland game birds and rabbit, etc.? Just so I can reassure my wife that I "really" got it for hunting grouse . . .

Another example of Canadian overpricing. The M4 is $600 cheaper south of the line.

$600 cheaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I understand it, the Canadian version is not available south of the border for whatever price. American regulation currently prohibits either a pistol grip or a folding/telescoping stock, if not both, for anything but law enforcement/military use. If anyone has more info on this, let me know.

I don't think so the pistol grip verison of the M4 is available sol, better still the M3 is still available - now prohibited for some stupid reason in Canada. BTW US regulations vary from state to state and in some instances county to county. Telescopic stocks are prohibited in some of the North Eastern states, but pistol grips aren't.

let me clear that up for you...I got one of the first 6 benelli M4s in Canada...at that time, there was an assault weapon ban in the us and collapsible stocks were not allowed so mine came straight from italy...I paid an "introductory price" of $2500..BUT, and this is big, mine is the "real" LE version (it is marked LE on the receiver)...since that time, the assault weapon ban sunset and they are coming in from the states for $2100...sure you guys pay less but you are getting the poseur version ;)

Oh, and in answer to your question, i LOVE it! Mine was still on order and i had the opportunity to shoot one at a 'benelli day" at the Grange and my first reaction was "thank God i have one on order!"...it remains my favourite gun to date (though the FNP90 is there...i vow to own one of those one day ;) )

I bought my Pistol grip M4(LE) in the USA. and yes... at least $600 cheaper than here.

Just bought one last week :) Went in for ammo...left with a Benelli M4. Took it to the range twice already, fired about 20 boxes of power-point 1 0z. slugs. Flawless operation, SUPER accurate, one bad-ass shotgun. If you can afford it....GRAB IT :)
