I started a thread a few weeks back about the MR-1 and whether I should buy one (already did) and the ".223" stamped on the MR-1 barrel becuase it is adverised as both .223 and 5.56 mm but no one could confirm if it in fact was safe to fire 5.56mm as advertised but not stamped on the barrel.
After 3 weeks, Benelli USA reposnded to my query
'The MR-1 rifle I want to buy has ".223" stamped on the barrel but you advertise it as chambered in
5.56 NATO. Does it shoot both or just .223? Please advise.
and stated " It does shoot both".
So we can feel free to fire away with both.....
