I bought a Benelli MR-1 in September. I've taken it to the range a few times with no problems. I went to the range yesterday with my girlfriend and she tried to shoot it, and it only went click. not boom. I thought she had eased the bolt forward and it had not closed properly so i manually worked the action, put a fresh round in and let it slam forward and the same thing happened to me. I looked at the round and there was no dint in the primer. It did make a clicking when i squeezed the trigger, but the firing pin did not make contact with the primer.

I've had it apart to clean a few times, and its always worked fine after.

If anyone has any information on what this may be it would be much appreciated.

Well, it was in the back of my truck for a few hours prior to shooting it. but it wasn’t really that cold. maybe -2. could the cold effect its ability to shoot? I thought the MR-1 was a military grade weapon?

Could the firing pin be seized? I had a similar problem a year ago with my CZ 858 when me and my Dad were out shooting it. The pin was only making light dents on the primers.

I later traced the problem to a poorly lubricated firing pin, and it has worked fine since then.

Its supposed to have "mil-spec" performance, but its not what I would call "Military grade".

That would be a good place to start. When I have a free afternoon i'll strip the entire thing apart and look at the firing pin.

thanks
