So i just put my deposit down on an mr1 all the research i've found on them they seem great.

who has one here? anyone got a review for me? how do you like it. pros? cons?

after shouldering it i've found that mounting an optic on it will be useless as the rail is far too high to get a propervcheekeweld. the peep sight looks nice, but the aperture seems a big big for me.. will be able to tell better once i get it out to the range.. won't be able to pixk it up for a while though they're on backorder...

I know 2 fellas that own MR1's. Both are the non-restricted model.

The one I shot had a Nikon M-223 600 BDC on it and I felt it was the perfect height as far as cheek weld was concerned.

My first impression was the 'controls' were all a little wonky as far a placement and manipulation. I thought to myself this is no AR, I was a little bit dissaponted as I was expecting something that would be a bit compareable (controls wise).

Once I settled in behind the bang switch....... It really is ALOT different than an AR. All of the things that kind of annoy me about AR's the MR-1 seems to answer.....

I for one have it on my 'list'.

Cheers!

i like the ambi mag release i can just use my left hand and the slide release i can use with my trigger finger it all seems very comfortabel for me. it is no AR but i sure like it... just can't wait until i get to take it home.. the one i fondled was on hold for soemone else they are ordering me a new one.

Just took mine to the range for the fourth time. (Bought it used from another member here)

First two times no stoppages whatsoever. Third time I had a scope mounted and the clerk who mounted it for me f**ked it right up, stoppages galore cause of where he put the riser.

Today, not a single stoppage after changing up the scope mount. Best grouping today was 2 MOA, I'm confident that it could go below 1 MOA with the proper loads and the right nut behind the trigger.

Not a big fan of the irons they put on it, I have issues with them, mainly that the rear sight is too wide making it hard to focus on the front site.
Besides that, takedown is relatively straightforward. Reassembly is terribly difficult though.

Umm, mag release is a little tricky, but you get used to it. Mags seat much more reliably than in the AR series, and ergonomics are far superior.
The trigger is a little odd, very little distance to pull, I found it odd at first, but I like it now.

I'm happy with my current set up, Bushnell Banner 3-9 x40mm on a riser. Retains iron sight capacity.
In the short run I'd like to add a grip pod, a sling, and does anyone know of any reliable way to illumiate iron sights?

can you get a proper cheekweld with the scope mounted that high? the one i fondled gave me a nice cheekweld on the irons but if i raised up and pretented to have a scope it seemed akward. and i'm glad i'm not the only one to think the aperture on the iron seems alittle big.... I sitll think it's be a great gun for my 3gun matches AND i can take it out to the farm and do a little varmint control. IF i put an optic on it i won't worry about keeping teh irosn i'll just remove them alltogether i think. that's teh only way i can see it working properly

Well, the cheek weld works fine for me, (bearing in mind I'm a big guy) not sure if its "proper" or not though. This is the first scope I've ever bought, prior to this I've only used irons, elcans and trijicons.
