Benelli Nova Mercury Recoil Reducer???

My question is does it work (the internal stock one)? I am using the 24" for turkey and slugs and wouldnt mind some recoil reduction. Is it worth the 100+ most companies want? Or would a limbsaver slipover be better? or both? and Yes i am a wimp ;) . Thanks

nope, they are a pump gun. THere is a hollow butstock that will accept a special merc recoil reducer.

I have one in mine. It changes the balance a bit but nothing that isn't easy to get used to. I never believed in recoil reducers until I tried the Benelli Nova one. It does work. It could be the extra weight it adds but I don't care about that, it works.

:) I have the NOVA that is used in Canada by Tom Knaff. It does not have the new push-forward-before-cycling-lawyer mod. I put the extension tube on for my backup pheasant shooting with novices. But, when I hunt I put a mercury rcoil reducer in the tube to make it waterfowl legal. It also has the Benelli reducer in the stock. The stock reducer really works for two reasons: Extra weight and the reducing action. The gun is to light to shoot magnum loads without the reducer. With both reducers, heavy steel loads feel like regular hunting lead loads.

Best regards,
Henry;)

I bought a Pachmayr slip-on pad and it has worked wonders. I do not feel the recoil as much as I did when I only had the hockey puck pad.

At $11.56 from LeBaron's you cannot go wrong. Get the pad and the recoil reducer if, as you say, you are a wimp;)

Where's that guy Anglinfool? He sent me a link a while ago to a US source for recoil suppressors, lemme see if I can find it...

Here we go!!
MCSports: Recoil Suppressors. Obviously since this is a US source you'll need the proper paperwork, but the fact remains that they're $30-something US where a local vendor will want $100 plus for the same thing. Good luck!

No, no, no my CGN friend. No paperwork needed for this piece of equipment;)

The last time I was in to Gander Mountain the fellow would've sold me these particular items ( the reducer and the bracket that you also need to buy to hold it in) but he still hadn't receivd them in stock.

One day I will drive back to that sanctuary that is Gander Mountain when they have it in stock and I will pay much less than the ridiculous "iffy" prices that they are asking in our true North strong and...bla, bla...damn cold flu:mad:

Time for another Tylenol:p

Don't apologize for wanting to reduce the recoil in a Nova.

Having shot a Benelli Nova with a 3-1/2" magnum load I'd get the recoil reducer for the stock, a reducer for the mag tube, the best recoil pad I could get and use a PAST shoulder pad.

It is THE hardest kicking shotgun I've ever fired. A true snot bubbler.

Touched off a 3.5 inch turkey load the other day in mine sighting in for the upcoming hunt. Thought my heart stopped - I am not a small boy but son of a gun - that think belted me something fierce. Any lines on where in Canada to get one of the kits that fits in the stock (and does it take a 1" mercury tube or do you have to buy a special one to fit their bracket??)

I was wondering about the Nova mercury tube as well. I know the movement of the liquid helps to delay felt recoil abit...but couldnt you achieve similar results by say sticking in a stainless dowel in the stock area? Wouldnt the additional 1 pound or more..achieve a similar recoil effect?
