Hey guys I was just looking into getting a shotgun for skeet shooting a well as maybe bird hunting ie duck goose etc, and was looking at a banelli nova pump, it fits my price range, looks nice and from what I get banellis are a great brand. You guys know your stuff so I would like to hear your thoughts. My price cap I would say is 750 but lower the better. Thanks

I've got one, I like it. BUT, it kicks like a mule with the 3.5 inch mag steel shells!

They come up in the EE one in awhile, $400 or so.

Cheers
Jay
P.S. My main waterfowl gun is a semi auto Baikal MP153, with the Nova as my backup gun...

The supernova will take in my guess 30% of felt recoil on the super mags but does not really reduce target loads much. For the extra 2-300 its worth it

Don't most?

The Stoeger P350 is an off-label Benelli for about $100 less at typical new retail. The incidence of lemons may be a bit higher as they find ways to make that saving but many people are just as happy with them as Benelli owners so if price matters it may be worth the risk. Make sure you try it out thoroughly as soon as you take it home and take it right back if it isn't all good.

I looked at both of those and was impressed by the technology but decided I needed to save a bit of money more than I needed those benefits. I settled for the venerable Mossberg 500 design in the 535 Waterfowl version (matte black synthetic stock, matte blue metal, 3.5" chamber.) $374 new including taxes and working just as it should so far. (Knocked some cat food out of the trees at a friend's farm this weekend.)

Ultimately, no one knows better than you whether the extra nice gun is worth the extra time and effort it takes you to earn the extra dollars to pay for it. Except maybe your wife.

I got the Nova in 20g. It was the lightest pump gun with the best quality (in my opinion) for a packing gun, for waking around shooting pheasant when I am in b.c. It does kick like a mule compered to my Browning over under, but at 2800 I really don't want to be dragging it through the bush. The best part of the Nova is that it field strips in seconds, no extra tools, even the bolt comes out.

I was torn between the supernova and BPS. SN wins in appearance. much better looking design. The bps had features that couldnt be ignored. Specially for a lefty. Top tang. left side slide release and bottom eject. That and 30 years of proven field use with next to no bad talk online about it. Google is full of benelli SN and Nova feed problems. That was the deciding factor. I got the BPS. If you live anywhere near me we can always take her out and blow a box of shells.

I was torn between the SuperNova and BPS... Shouldered both and went with the one that swung best and felt the most solid. The Benelli felt kind of like a toy so I went with the BPS Stalker. I couldn't be happier. Just my 2 pennies.
