I am considering the R1 with comfort tech. Does anyone have any advise about these semi's? I am considering either 300win mag or 300WSM.

Do they shoot well? Do they have a history of Jamming etc?

Any information folks can offer would be great.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Mine in 300 win mag shot without a hitch, and I found it to be accurate on par with bolt guns of the same caliber.

Also it was super easy to keep clean. :)

Mine too, non comfortech 300 win. Shoots great with factory ammo. I should reload for it, may start. You can't go wrong with them, they are the best designed semi auto hunting rifle out there, easy to clean and maintain, dead nuts reliable and very accurate.

I have experience with 2 in 30-06, one wood, one comfortech.

The wood one shoots realy well (my dad's), the comfortech also shoots great, had some issues that were cleared up with a new scope (vx3 had a loose crosshair). They both function great, and never have any problems, hunitng in extreme conditions.

I have several rifles, but I hunt with an R1 and trust it.

My dad and I are taking them buffalo hunting next week in northern BC and leaving the Sako 375H&H and Rem700 338 at home. Life's too short to hunt with a bolt action.

Just wondering what the reduced Recoil would be comparable to?

30-06, 308 etc any estimates?

I think I need to shoulder one to help make up my mind...

From the Benelli website

"Just imagine a .300 Winchester Magnum that feels like you’re shooting a light .270 and you’ll understand what this hunting rifle from Benelli is all about. The Benelli R1 has a ComforTech™ recoil dampening stock that cuts felt recoil. To put it more graphically, other high-powered hunting rifles kick about twice as hard."

That should give you some idea.

When shooting the 30-06, the barrell still jumps when you shoot, but the felt reciol is minimal. Also, the fancy wood one kicks the same as the fancy comfortech one, which is way less than a bolt action.
When hunting I always see where the bullet impacts in the scope (I guess where possible). I see hits, and I`ve seen snow and dirt jump.
