So in a pretty pleasant spot, a big game rifle in every action but a semi so naturally it is picking the heck out of me.... Have a couple of Benelli shotguns and quite like them so I was drawn to the R1. Question is how the heck is the Pro with open sights being the only difference I see (both AA-Grade Satin) be worth $480 more?? What am I missing on their website? Reviews on the recent rifles seem pretty good and the ought six caliber would share nicely with several bolt rifles.....

Cheers,
Dirk

Hi Dirk

Do you have a link to the website for the additional price, I have been using the comfortech stock on a R1 30-06 for the past couple years. The one I have is drilled and tapped for open sights that are about $200 extra. I do see some of the wooden one's come with battue sights and a higher grade finish like a premium model that are more expensive, wonder if that is what you are seeing.

I really like the Benelli R1 low recoil, reliable, light and easy to take apart to clean.

I am getting out of hunting so currently selling my hunting rifles and gear, I have the benelli R1 up for sale.

The Pro also comes with "grip tight" coating. You can see it on the top of the raised comb.

Benelli does not seem to be overly clear on specific changes when they offer new sku numbers. I had the same issue trying to decipher the differences between sku 11750 vs 11772. Both are an R1 in 300WM with comfortech. At some point Benelli superseded from one number to the other. Similarly the 30-06 in Satin AA used to be 11736 and then became the 11770. No published differences that I could find. What I speculate is that the original oldest sku's maybe came with both sights and a rail, and then at some point they stopped including the sights, leading to the sku change. I base this on the fact that I purchased a new old stock R1 satin AA in 308 about a year ago, and it came with both a rail and the sights. But again, this is strictly speculation on my part.
