Got my order in from tactical ordinance ( www.tacord.com ) on Friday and installed everything today. All in all I'm very happy! With ghost load, she now fits

7+1+1 x 2 3/4"
6+1+1 x 3"
5+1+1 x 3.5"

BFB Charging bolt & speed bolt release. Drilled
& tapped myself while still mounted without removing the roll pin and shell stop, just taped up around the receiver real nice and added a drop of loctite. Only took 10 mins!!

Love this gun, fully loaded with 3.5" 1-3/8oz shells she is just over 9lbs now, which makes the recoil much more tolerable with the big mags

I'm assuming it fits 5 3.5" shells in the mag, 1 in the chamber, and a ghost load for that total of 7?

I can fit 9 2.75" in my versa max this way, but it still only fits 5 3.5". Legal.

As for the what for comment... Looks like a 3 gun set up? That's what my versa max is for.

Yes 3 gun / hunting double duty, but I'm not done with it yet, looks like I can't get it opened up until the fall. Might add a pistol grip too. Probably won't be as nice for 3 gun as M2 when all done, but well see. I like being able to eat, any ammo any time when hunting and it will be something different.

Yep I'll plug it to 1+1+1 for birds.

On a side note I contacted the CFO, a CO and an RCMP officer up here before doing this extension. According to firearms act there is no problem at all, but for migratory birds you have to have the gun plugged FOR THE AMMO YOU ARE USING AT THE MOMENT. So you can't plug for 3.9x3.5" then sneak in an extra 2.75" shell.

In regards to ghost loading, he said if you read the migratory bird act the wording is quite specific:

"the capacity of the firearm must be modified so that the maximum number of shells it is capable of holding does not exceed three (3) in the magazine and chamber combined."

So he said technically you might be able to argue one more on the lifter in court, as the regulations don't mention carrier capacity. However, he said most CO's would write you a ticket and let you deal with the legal fallout after the fact which would be costly and of course no guarantee you would win....

In reality though, getting a 4th shot off on many birds is rare anyways so my advice is to keep it at 3 shells total including the ghost load and keep things more challenging.

I believe when Mr Foiles pleaded guilty he created case law regarding ghost loading with regards to hunting.
