Benelli sbe2 feeding problem

I have a sbe 2 with a problem, after the gun is fired the shell stop releases the round in the mag tube, the shell goes back so far it won't allow the shell lifter to raise it up for the bolt to catch and push forward into the chamber. Not my shotgun but was asked to look at it, no manual and the web site doesn't have much in the way of trouble shooting that i could find. This gun is lightly used and has been back to factory for broken parts before. Any suggestions as everything looks okay with no obvious missing or broken parts. Trying to get ahold of a friends sbe2 to compare parts.

Whats the bumper on front inside of the trigger group look like . google numrich they have a schematic of sbe 2 .

Had a good look at the front of the trigger group and it appears similar to pictures.

Next thing try cleaning the return spring in the rear stock .a dirty tube or plunger maybe slowing the bolt down and throwing the timing off .

Cleaned everything when i got the shotgun, slick operating rig for a single shot.
