Supernova vs 10ga BPS. How close is the 3.5 12ga to the 10ga in terms of knock down killing power. I have shot 10ga all my life but never shot/hunted with a 3.5 12ga. I have had 3 10ga BPS's and they do a great job on killing far away water fowl but they swing like a 8' piece of 4x4. I was going tomorrow to buy a new camo BPS 10 but the same shop also has a camo Supernova and I got to thinking maybe I should try the 3.5 12ga instead of the 10ga, so I thought I would seek some hands on experience from you guys who have shot/hunted with both. I WILL BE USING IT 40% FOR DUCKS AND 60% FOR GEESE. I have handled a Nova before, which pointed and fit very nice,..but I have not handled the Supernova.

Thanks.

Personally, the cost of 10ga ammo takes it out of the mix for me...

I went with the 3.5 inch chambered 12ga & shoot 1&3/8oz of #2 steel going 1550fps for ducks & geese using a improved cylinder choke.

I had a Baikal MP153, needed $$$, so I sold it in a moment of weakness & now use my 'back up' gun a Benelli Nova... The Semi takes the snap out of the 3.5 shells...

Cheers

90% OF the guys i hunt with around home with run 10 ga's because we hunt coastal areas and we need better pattering at longer ranges. We don't have the # of geese the rest of the country have so we use the right tool for the job that can pattern big shot out past 40 yrds an that is a 10ga.And the guy running the 10 has to now what his gun can do and how to shoot it at those range's or the gun is useless. We also reload i have an 1 1l2 ounce steelload of bbb doin between 1580/1620 ft per sec on ave thru my chrony thats great out to 60yrds choked down with im briley. If your hunting in a farm feild usin decoys all ya need is a 20ga or a 3'' 12 but if your jump or pass
shooting i recamend a 10 but its also deadly in a farmers feild lol.....and on ducks...have fun deciden...

I bought the 10ga BPS....This one makes the 4th BPS 10ga that I have had over the years,..I guess old habits are hard to break, lol. I will say that this camo synthetic model seems to point and handle better than the wood and blue models that I had.
Thanks guys,..Happy New Year.

Sounds like you made the right choice for your style of shooting.
I will say this and probably draw some heat over it but so be it. I found after shooting a lot of test patterns that most 3 1/2" 12's don't hold a candle to the big ten for patterning large shot.
