Looking at buying a shotgun but have a question. What is the difference (except the price) between the Benelli Super Nova and the Benelli Nova shotguns?? Is it just the comforTech stock?

If it is the stock, what's your experience with it? Does the comfortech on the Super Nova actually make a difference to recoil?

I'm looking at getting something in a 26" barrel, is the supernova available in this size...I've only seen them in catalogs with the 28" barrel.

thanks

The Super Nova has the Comfortech Stock with the gel pads... and it reduces the felt recoil substantially. If you are going to be shooting heavy 3.5 loads then the Super Nova is the way to go... much less punishing.

hte super nova has a modular set-up, it means that the housing and stock are not one, while the nova is onepiece. you have more flexibility with the spr nova, ( stocks can be replace). mine is a supr nova 24"bbl with steady grip. and it works beatifully, I would go to the super nova, I got mine at Le Baron Markham.

I have the Nova and love it but I want to upgrade to the Supernova with Steady grip.

Anyone know it Nova and Supernova barrels are interchangeable?

Also, anyone have a ballpark on pricing for the Supernova with rifle sighted barrel?

Any body have some tips for the 6'4 types that are trying to get down low enough on a SuperNova to make the gun fit better?

I adjusted the shims and now the sights are where I need them, but the stock just seems much too short. I naturally want to hold it out a considerable distance from my shoulder and my forearms seems to be paying the price for it.

I know you can get larger gel pads for them, but at 150 a pop that seems a little steep, any other suggestions?

The Nova is a great gun, durable, great looking, and light. But that comes at a price. You start shooting high fps steel 3.5 mags all day at geese and you'll see what I mean. You can buy a mercury compensator for it though. The only problem is that the Nova does not come with the bracket inside the butt. So you have to buy the bracket as well as the compensator, so it can get pricey. I only ever find it a problem when it is really warm outside, and I am blind hunting in a long sleeve t-shirt (very little padding)

I sold my 28" Nova - poor fit as I couldn't sight properly and it was brutal on my shoulder( more like on the arm because of the poor fit) and after 100 clays my cheek was bruised. I bought a Benelli Practical (20") for IPSC and installed the recoil reducer for a much reduced recoil. The position of ghost ring sights is high and the Nova is now user friendly in this model. I cautiously bought a Super Nova (28") in September and the shims allowed for good fit, including cast-on. Recoil is remarkably less and I have been "exercising" it interchangeably with my Supersport and Browning Cynergy, and experience great fondness for the Super Nova. I would recommend it as "the" best quality pump on the market. You might visit benelliusa.com/ for specifications on bbl lengths as they vary depending on model selected.
