Hey guys first real post here so bare with me. So I just got my pal in the mail and I've been wanting to get a shotgun for my first firearm. I've been doing a lot of research and I've narrowed it down to a benelli supernova and browning BPS. I'm not looking to break the bank but I want something that will last. I'm not using it for hunting just sport shooting ie clays. Looking for some advice or recommendations on it. Or if I've missed a better option.

Thanks!

The BPS is very well made, especially for the money, but it's a heavy beast that handles like a steamroller IMO.

Can't go wrong with either one. I used a Browning BPS growing up for years as a LH shooter it was great as the shells eject from the bottom. I have shot the Benelli Nova/Supernova and they are great too. I now use a Benelli SBE but those get pricey. Shoulder them both, even better if you are able to put a couple of hunting rounds thru them just to see what it's like. Good luck shopping! :)

Benelli - typically they're the best designed and equipped shotguns out of the box. Especially for "Black and Green" stuff. Hunting or other uses, possibly the BPS but running hard on courses, competitions and for animal defence or simulations, Benelli every time.

BPS. Solid, reliable, gives a sense of weight and quality with the steel receiver, and the bottom eject is nice, not throwing shells everywhere. Just a solid, we'll build gun.

I own a BPS hunter, and a Super Nova tactical.

I ended up sending my 28" barrel to get cut down to 19.4' by a gunsmith ( just where the vent rib ended) and now carry that as my bear / defence gun.

If that tells you anything. Some people think im crazy, others are jealous, but both are great. Comes down to personel preference.

The real answer on this one will be which fits you better. Both are quality made, each has it attributes, both sell for the same money. My clay workhorse is a Benelli Nova, it fits me like a glove, rarely if ever jams, will feed, fire and eject any brand of ammo you feed it. I've shot the BPS, it carries a bit more weight, is harder to strip down and reassemble than the Benelli, has the option of nice wood and is smoother to shuck.
