Benjamin Franklin

My grandson has been given a pellet pistol. It is marked "Benjamin Air Rifle Co. St. Louis U.S.A. 177" on the rear of the receiver and "Benjamin Franklin" on it's side. It is non-functional. Could someone tell me a bit about this pistol, or guide me to a web site for more information on it; and who would fix it, or source parts for us? Thanks.

Pretend you are going to shoot the gun.Now instead of looking at the sites,look at the round plug on back.Their should be a number there.That is the model number.Let me know what it is and I might be able to help you out.Glen

The markings on the rear of the receiver are on the plug at the back, so 177 is the only number I can observe. I believe the model is referred to as "Benjamin Franklin", but I know nothing about these.

You must be referring to a Benjamin Sheridan. If I recall correctly, Benjamin Franklin was one of the Fathers of Confederation in the USA. You should do an image search in Google for Benjamin Sheridan and see what comes up. They are now part of Crosman, but used to be their own company. There are only a handful of models in their production history, so it shouldn't be too hard to id.

No actually Benjamin Franklin Air Rifle Co was bought out by Sheridan hence Benjamin /Sheridan, you likely have a model #317 made in the mid to late 50's........Harold
