Bent my rifle scope. Need a new one, Has anyone tried the Huskemaw Blue Diamond?

Hey all,
I slipped and fell during my moose hunt in September. The result was that i bent by Bushnell Elite 3-9 (not much invested initially).

Now I'm thinking it's upgrade time! Doing some research a fell upon the Huskemaw Blue Diamond Series 3-12×42 LR Rifle Scope or Huskemaw Blue Diamond Series 4-16×42 LR Rifle Scope.
The subject moose rig is a LH Sako AV in 300 Win Mag with Optilock rings.

I like the custom turret option since all I shoot from that rifle is Hornady SST 180 grain.

Do any of you have experience with Huskemaw scopes? There are no dealers in my area.
My budget is (under 2K).

Just about every manufacturer has scopes with ballistic turrets.

Lots of options out there.

I really like Athlon scopes that are relatively new.

I also like Burris XTR II series.

If you want nicest glass Swarovski is where I would go.
 
Unless the turret comes from your own shooting and measurements be wary. The one I ended up with is over 8 inches high at 400 yards. Not going to hit much with that.
 
I had a blue diamond 5-20 at one time. Worked alright with the 168 bergers. And that's about it. That's what i didn't like. I like the option of trying different bullet and powder types that would give different velocity. Once a turret is made, it is pretty much a package deal to the gun if you sell. I prefer the ballistic reticles that Zeiss or swarovski has. It allows me to shoot different bullet weights. If i want, i can throw the scope on a diferent gun, go on the website and punch in my calculations to get my distances/scope settings

made by LOW like bushnell elite in Japan. the older ones i shot where with 1/3 instead of 1/4 moa at 100 yards for the setting. good but not worth the money asked for ...
 
I'll be looking into the custom turret system stickers. The custom turret option makes sense for this rifle since it gets a steady diet of SST's as my go-to moose rig. I would use my own shot data for sure.
I'll go look at scopes on the weekend.

I've looked into them, I think the new turrets have some type of double zero system. So you can have your scope always set for 2 different loads. Don't take my word on that, heard it second hand. But like others say, to pricy for what you get. I'd go Leupold VX6 HD in 2-12. They are nice scopes. And in your price range.
 
So I have three Huskemaw systems. I have tried all kinds of different systems over the years and can tell you honestly that this may be the best system you can get as a "Hunter". Others here have stated the obvious, if you dont collect your data right or want to shoot different velocities then this wont work for you. I dont screw around like that and never have. My gun safes are full of guns that I have tinkered with finding a load that shoots to my standard. When I find that load, then that is the load that gun gets every time. I dont mess around with different loads in a gun, I want the best load that shoots out of that gun and gives me the best accuracy. I have the 4-16x42 on a 7-08 sako a7 that shoots like a hot damn out to 800 yards with hornandy factory ammo, wife shot a moose this fall, one shot kill at 460 yards with it. I have the 5-20x50 on a 7mm tikka that shoots 4 3/4 inch groups out at 700 yards with factory HSM 168 gr bullets and I have a 5-30x56 on a 300 RUM, I love that 5-30 scope for all its features but its too heavy, 35 oz. I am looking to replace it. I love the scope because of the clarity and the inside level, cant beat that feature. The system works great, once you get your ballistics set that is. I use Isnipe for my ballistic calculator, really like it but you have to varify your gun by actually shooting at long range targets and counting the clicks. The 7-08 and the 7mm were right on the calculator but the 300 rum was out a click at long range and got worse the futher out you went.
I zero at 200, shoot 300,400,500 and so on. But when I took that rum out, i noticed it was on or real close at 2,3,4 hundred but getting out to 5,6,7,800 it got further off as I went. I corrected with actually counting clicks and had them cut me a new turret with my verification. Works great now. Its a super simple system and fast to use for hunting. And dont really break the bank.
 
From what I was told the Huskemaw turrets are 1/3 MOA per click instead of 1/4. That may not matter if you are having a custom dial fitted to your rifle with a particular bullet but my concern would be what happens when you cannot get that bullet anymore and the new bullet has different ballistics - now you need to get another dial made up. I guess if you are a person who buys a rifle and keeps it for a lifetime and always uses the same ammunition or has a stockpile of it for reloading it might not make a difference but that would be my concern - and maybe my information is incorrect

1/3 or 1/4 will work whatever you are shooting just a matter of practise. i used one blue diamond and it worked. if you do not want to use a turret then you need a reticle.
 
how about the Leupold VX5 3-15 with firedot, it's good for most hunting situation. Leupold offers CDS dial, with locking elevation turret. price is 1200-1500.
