Does anyone have a pic of the difference between a normal .22LR chamber and a Bentz chamber? I'm curious as to what the difference is dimensionally.

I was investigating what rounds wound be best for a new barrel that has a Bentz chamber. I'm aware of that Stingers for instance are not to be used as the case is too long.

EDIT: as shamelessly plargarized from Rimfire Central

.22LR Chamber Dimensions:

Type______Length__Mouth Dia._Throat Dia._Taper @ Throat
Sporting____0.7751"____0.2307"____0.2270"
Bentz______0.6900"____0.2270"____0.2255"_____1.5° Taper
Match _____0.6876"____0.2267"____0.2248"
Win 52-D___0.5800"____0.2278"____0.2248"_____2.0° Taper

The "Ruger" 10/22 factory chamber is the "Sporting" chamber above.
The "Bentz" chamber is the 'match' chamber for semi-autos.
The "Match" chamber is for bolt actions.
The "Win M52-D" is a bolt action target rifle.

.22 Long Rifle Headspace: .0425" GO // .045" NO-GO

Great question. I'm in the planning stages of a .22RF project and considering at Bentz chamber. I'm curious to know as well.

bentz reamer

I have a bentz reamer that I use, but I never run it in to its full depth. A bentz reamer is quite a bit longer than a 22 round needs, I generally run it in short and let the nose of a bullet engage the rifling about .060 or .070". Bentz is better than a sporter, but still can be improved upon. The tradeoff is that your extractor will have a hard time extracting live rounds. To use a tighter chamber than a bentz, headspace needs to be at the minimum, so that the round enters the chamber fully. Later.
