Is there a possibility that 50 beowulf magazine will be available again or that's some kind of unicorn that we're not gonna see again? Me specifically, I'd like this:
https://www.canadaammo.com/product/detail/g1-50-beowulf-5-round-polymer-magazine-black-multi-pack-variation

I would buy a 10 pack right now if they were still for sale. Given the amount of ARs that got sold lately, these magazines would sell like hot cakes. Actually, most retailers are sold out on pistol magazines.

I think you pretty much summed it up with one word... UNICORN. Unfortunately although the RCMP'S opinion on the Beowulf magazine is technically not law, I don't think that retailers are going to take the chance of selling a potentially prohibited device. I think the Beowulf mag days are over and we should enjoy our pistol mags

Wasn't the rcmp opinion that bewulf mags were ok? I didn't even think they were prohib. What mag do people with 50beowulf rifle use anyway?

Yes 50 Beowulf mags are still used in 50 Beowulf rifles. They are OK if pinned to 2 rounds. If not pinned they say they are now prohibited. Kinda takes the point of them away and in a sense still makes them a unicorn

Can you point me where the RCMP made it officially prohibited? All I saw was the email directed at aztch-armory, and the CSSA response from 2015 https://cssa-cila.org/2015/11/cssa-communique-beowulf-magazines/

Despite some recent social media surrounding Beowulf magazines, the CSSA is confirming that there has been NO BAN on the sale of these magazines in Canada by either the R.C.M.P. or the Minister of Public Safety at this time.

All 50 Beowulf firearms FRT numbers remain listed as legal with a five-round capacity, and retailers should continue to sell these products at this time:

#121656 Alexander Arms
#124566 Alexander Arms
#128962 MGI
#122716 Stag Arms
#136602 VLtor Arms

A recent letter from the R.C.M.P. addressed to ###### Armoury in response to a denial of their International Import Certificate for these magazines was shared via social media and has caused widespread speculation that the magazines themselves have been banned. This was a private letter to one company regarding one shipment, not a Special Bulletin.

The CSSA continues to work with the office of the Minister of Public Safety regarding this issue and will release further updates as needed.

See the story: http://calibremag.ca/home/2015/11/rcmp-prohibit-50-beowulf-magazines/

Also from the forum:

As of right now, the Beowulf magazines are not prohibited. Please go to the CSSA forum on this site.
No point in this thread continuing at this time.

I've been away for a bit so if there's been something else since then that I missed I apologize.

That was also my impression, that one shipment didn't get through the border, and now everyone is affraid of selling them but there hasn't been any bulletin like for the 10-22 magazines.

Pinning magazines to 2 rounds is ridiculous. Nowhere in the law is there anything about pinning magazines to 2 rounds. Seems to me like the beowulf<->223 rule is the same as the 40sw<->9mm rule, which is specifically allowed.

The RCMP can't make it "officially prohibited". We do have laws and to the best of my knowledge the law does not specifically adress Beowulf magazines. So technically to a logically thinking person they are not illegal. Problem is the RCMP can interpret the vague wording within the laws to form an opinion that suits their agenda. Since they are considered the experts, law enforcement and our judicial system rely upon and favor the RCMP'S "opinion". This is why retailers have stopped selling Beowulf mags. It's not worth their risk factor. I agree there is nothing technically illegal about them but the risk factor is now too high for most people to push their luck in this guilty until proven innocent society us gun owners have to deal with

I saw there was a sticky here about beo mags...even a forum is scared to allow individuals to sell them.. I am always saddened by Canadians bowing to pressure over fear. It's almost like we give them ultimate power over us. In the States we would have a lawyer just clamouring for a piece of the police especially over the infringement of our rights. I personally wish I could get my hands on some of these, They even make be pistol mags.

They ARE NOT PROHIBITED! I just bought 3 of them and they are pinned to hold 5 beowulf rounds. They cost me $69.95 (+tax & shipping) each, so buying a 10pak would be expensive. The supplier just had a shipment come in. If they were prohibited, they would not have been exported into Canada. I do not understand the purpose of people making sh!t up.......
The problem with them is that they are hard to find as the .50 Beowulf is a rare cartridge and not many firearms are chambered for it, therefore production is low. Please don't ask me who the supplier is as 1) they are not part of the CGN suppliers list and advertising their products here is not cool, and 2) They are probably sold out as he had a limited stock, and everybody knew about it.

How many 223 can you fit in a 5rounds beo?

Looking at the new version of Bulletin 72 from the RCMP they claim that the Beowulf mag is actually built from a STANAG 5.56 mag like the original Alexander Arms and is therefore dual purpose. But what about the press check ventures ones for example that are purpose built for Beowulf and not a modified GI /STANAG mag?

The FRT entry is worth a read

The "Canadian Law Comments" section says for FRT #121656.

In the case of AR platform rifles chambered for the 50 Beowulf calibre, the magazine is adapted from the original 5.56x45 NATO version of the magazine but the ability of the magazine to perform as originally designed has not been compromised by the adaption. As a result such magazines are prohibited if they contain more than five 5.56x45 NATO cartridges. The magazines are in effect dual calibre magazines and are prohibited if they exceed five shots capacity of either calibre. An AR platform magazine limited to no more than five 5.56x45 NATO (223 Remington) cartridges will hold no more than two 50 Beowulf cartridges.
