Berdan primers

I am not sure why you would do that. I am told that RBCS sells a punch to knock the primers out and give you a central hole you need for boxer primer.

When I was about 16, I did a couple just to see. I drilled through the center neck down, then chipped out the primer from the back and opened the pocket a little to fit the boxer primer. It worked, but there is better ways to get 308 brass.

"opened" how? pocket reamer?

North Silva in TO distributes RWS Berdan primers. Fired primers can be removed a couple of different ways, seating new ones in straightforeward. But with 7.62x51, why bother?

"...told that RBCS sells a punch..." RCBS makes a berdan primer remover tool, but it pries them out and doesn't do anything to the primer hole. Berdan primed brass has two holes. Drilling them out isn't a good idea.
Turn the berdan primed brass into drawer pulls and get boxer primed brass.

used to remove berdans with a hardwood dowel, water, and hammer- you fill the case with water, use a dowel that's the same as the neck size, and water pressure forces the primer out- messy, but it works- but like other's have said, why bother- you can get boxer primed for almost every caliber
