Oh great Shotgun gurus - please help a lowly servant out on this one...

I have a Beretta AL-2 (great gun from the EE) - and I love skeet (yeah, I know get a skeet gun - but I love THIS ONE!) and the 2 3/4 shells dont cycle the bolt (not enough gas getting through I figure). How shall I fix this ? What do I ask the good fixer-of-guns to do without making this 3" useless (or worse)
I will buy another shotgun if I have to  (evil laugh!)

all help will be greatly appreciated!

Ensure it is sparklingly clean, first off. Run a pipe cleaner and solvent through the gas port, and clean the mag tube with very fine steel wool if need be. Secondly, use BreakFree CLP on the gas piston, rings, and mag tube. This stuff does not 'cook' into hardened gunk like most other oils will. Powder residue stays suspended and it keeps lubricating very well.

I wonder if the lighter bolt return spring from a 2-3/4" model would help?

right on grouseman. crud and semiautos eh! one other thing. remove the stock and the recoil spring out of its tube. clean and degrease the spring and the inside of the tube with a wire brush. when the gun is fired and the breech bolt comes back it seems to suck dirt, crud and fire residue up in the tube.get enough dirt in there and the bolt will not come back far enough to eject the spent shell or feed the next one.
