I have a Beretta 680 O/U and it won't fire both barrels consecutively. It fires the barrel that the selector is set for, and will not fire the other barrel unless the selector is changed to that barrel. Will this require a gunsmith to fix, or is there something else wrong here. Any info would be great.

Is this happening (inconsistently) while live rounds are being used? If so, you may wish to try shooting the gun with the butt firmly pressed against your shoulder....it could well be the trigger is not being reset after the initial shot. If this is a regular issue then have a gunsmith check it out.

On the other hand, if this is happening during dry firing sessions - then yes, the selector will need to be moved after the first trigger pull in order to reset the trigger for that 2nd "shot."

If you are dry firing it won't as the Beretta 680 series guns have inertia triggers and need the recoil from the first shell to set the second barrel. As mentioned you will need to move the selector or give the butt of the gun a hard rap to reset the trigger.

If it is happening with live shells then it is possible the shells are too light to reset. This can happen with very light shells like the Winchester AA Low Noise Low Recoil or if a subgauge tubeset is installed in the gun.

If the shells are of normal power it is possible that the inertia block is fouled in some manner and it may need a gunsmith's attention.

Beretta 680 series shotguns have a small spring that swiches the trigger to the next bbl that spring is almost always the culprit. The part is under $15 and not hard to change. Just a tip order a spare as it is a common problem and one of the few that ever occur on these guns.
Good Luck
