Haven't shot a lot of shotgun lately, but finding I'm getting back into it again. I picked up a 686 Silver Pigeon S on a trade a couple of years ago. Now that I've had a chance to shoot it a bit, I find it needs a bit of stock work to fit me. Tried out a Browning Citori GTS in my local shop today and it fit me really well. Is there anything functionally to choose between the 2 ? Superficially, the fit/finish on the Beretta seems a bit nicer, but not much. Am thinking of working a trade, or just selling the Beretta on the EE.

I've owned Brownings and Berettas and think they are equally good guns. There are some differences between the two systems neither are a compelling reason to choose one over the other.

The first is the locking system. The Browning uses a sliding underbolt which causes the receiver to be taller but narrow while the Beretta uses two locking lugs which means a shorter but wider receiver.

The safety/barrel selectors are different. That doesn't make a difference for targets but I prefer the Beretta style over the Browning if using the gun to hunt.

Neither has an edge IMO so pick the one that fits you best.
