I'm thinking about picking one of these up. I'm told it's a model 70 6 "inch barrel You guys got any experience? Is this a collector piece? Or should i let it sail down the road and add some other collector to the vault.
thanks age

I just bought one from Reliable in Vancouver, it has a 6 inch barrel which replaced the prohibited barrel that originally came with it. They have more coming in and they were used as some kind of training gun or so the story goes. I bought it as a shooter for cheap plinking. They seem to be quite readily available as I have seen them on other sponsor's sites so I doubt that they have any collector value.

I also just got one. I also have a beretta model 70 in 32 acp, the 32 is noticeably heavier in weight. Looking at the manual, I'm thinking that this is the model 72 which has a 6 inch barrel with the front sight on it and a cut groove on the front top of the slide to allow the front sight to pass. The models 70 and 71 have the front sight on the slide itself.

I have a 71 converted prohib. It is an amazing .22 pistol! I though about buying another when they were on sale, but was stupid and passed. The aftermarket mags are ####e though.

These guns originally came with long and short barrels. Unfortunately most of us can't have the original shorter 4 inch barrel.

They are available right now surplus and are a good deal. They are quality semi auto .22lr and have a reputation for reliability, good accuracy and they're fun to shoot!
