I just bought one off another member, still waiting for it to arrive. What do you think of yours? Are you happy with it?
Thx
It was beat to #### apon arrival. It has seen better days. However I kinda half azzed expected that as I ordered one of the last one Nas Guns had at that time. So all the good ones were already cherry picked or sold already. There was some rust on the barrel and some pitting on the exterior as well. However the bore was in good shape and the rifling good to go. The rifling is the important part and the rest just cosmetic anyways.
I cleaned it up the best I could and took it to the range. At this time the pistol had multiple times where the slide locked back after firing a bullet. Probably 2 to 3 times a mag. After further study it appeared to me the slide stop under recoil was moving up. Brought it home did a complete field strip. This was a ####ing pain in the azz to do as I couldn't find any reference material or videos to help me.
As I am not the most mechanically inclined guy out there I videoed the dis-assembly to help for the reassembly. Anyways I bent out the slide stop spring to add more tension to it to prevent it moving up under recoil or when the slide moved. So it appears to be good to go as of now. Manually cycling the slide, the stop stays where it should now. I need to get it out to the range again to fire it to verify it is fixed right.
The Beretta 71 was very accurate my first problem laden trip out. Even more so then me. With it hopefully fixed now I will give it a thorough range session again soon.
So right now I'm happy with my purchase. Sure its a little beat to hell. It has seen some hard use from the Israeli teachers that had used these pistols and trained with them. But overall I'm happy for what I got at the price I payed. Its comforting to know that this little pistol I own now was a defender of kids lives. It will be one of the last ones I voluntarily let go since it has provenance now.
Im debating on getting the barrel cut down to 4.2 inches. But that is a decision to made after the election. In the end I probably wont though. Hard to spend that kinda money getting a barrel cut down on a pistol I only paid 265$ plus tax for.
