I was curious about the Beretta 92F or M9 but more specifically the M9A1 with rail and attachment capabilities. I would like people that have or have had them to weigh in. I am torn between a 1911 and the Beretta. Any help is useful! Thanks!

The Berettas are nice guns, but for my uses I went with a Girsan. It's been an excellent experience thus far. It is exactly like a Beretta 92 for all intents and purposes, without the cost. It may be an option to keep in mind.

Like my Beretta 92 fs inox (Italy) version. Cant say enough good things about it, high quality pistole

haven't shot the girsan but apparently its good and half the price... Haven't heard anything negative about it...

I have a Beretta 96 Vertec, (.40 with rail), about 4K rounds through it; decent accuracy once I developed the technique for "staging" the trigger, have polished the feed ramp (didn't like Winchester white box when it was new), and changed out the recoil spring @ 3K rounds as a preventive measure. Good reliability, easy enough to strip.
If you were to place place the trigger characteristics of autos on a continuum, I would rate the Vertec in between a Glock and a 1911.
IMHO, nothing beats a well smithed single action revolver for trigger feel.

Love my Beretta 92FS, with the D spring installed it is very accurate and has an excellent trigger pull. Feed it Beretta 96 40 cal mags and you can load 14 rounds of 9mm legally. Fit and finish of my Italian model is excellent. Its copied because its an excellent pistol; in my opinion its worth the extra to get the original rather than a copy. Its one on my pistols that I will not ever part with.

The 92 is outstanding. Feels good in the hand, which is important. Quick to strip down and clean.

Only issue is that it prefers some ammo over others. But, this seems to be the case of most semi-automatics.

The 92 F was discontinued in the mid 1980's, the M9 was adopted as the sidearm for the U.S.Military at the same time..the result the 92FS for civilians.
The Beretta will have a big,fat grip which I have come to like, very accurate and reliable.
The 1911 is a big bore gun and also very reliable, you may have to consider reloading to shoot this calibre.

Extremely happy with my 92FS
> 10,000 rounds through it, never a problem.
The hard double action trigger pull can be markedly improved with new springs.
Looks great feels great in the hand (I hate the skinny grip on the 1911, and I have pretty small hands, I'm only 5'8" tall).
I bought a CZ Shadow because it seemed similar and was highly recommended, but it sits unused in the gun safe - I like the 92FS better.

Martin Riggs(Lethal Weapon) made it famous for me…
The grip is thick compared to most pistols (more so vs the 1911) and the trigger needs some getting used to. Front sight is fixed and not easy to change. Very easy to take-down.
Personally, I would buy the "Real Deal" and not a clone. I'm sure they're fine for us Civilians but I'd rather have quality vs quantity.

IMO, the 92FS should be on everyone's consideration list.

BTW…Al Flaherty's list the INOX @ $750 & blued @ &715

yes, a 92fs and a 1911 is a must.

I have a 92 FS in stainless.....a very nice pistol visually and performance wise......you cannot go wrong with a Beretta as they are a very high quality firearm.....

Very nice firearm. Very easy take down. Smaller hands beware. Grip is fat but comfortable. Front sight is part of the slide. Not sure how you can change it. Only issue I have ever noticed is make sure the slide is lubed before firing or you may see FTFs. Had this problem once, thought it was a mag or ammo issue but the guy tried some borrowed gun oil and gun functioned 100% after that.

Had Beretta 92 series in the late 80's & into the early 90's. Always found the grip 'too fat' for my liking.

Found the CZ 75/85's and BHP MKIII's fit me way better. So, no Beretta's since then.

Good pistols, though. I might try a Girsan eventually. Maybe one of the blingy ones for chits & giggles.
