I've recently aquired a Beretta 92fs INOX. The Old School One with the straight dust cover and all INOX controls. I listened to all the discussions about how the frame doesn't exactly match the upper and I have to agree. If you are looking at it over a nice white light it looks good, but if it's under poor yellowy orange lighting I can definately see the critisizms that it looks more beige or something along those lines. Mine is pretty sweet, but not exactly pristine in terms of the frame. There are definate wear marks which show a much more significant silver. My question is.... has anyone ever polished their frame to achieve a much more distinguished stainless look overall or is this considered TABOO for a lack of better words? If anyone has and could provide pics it would be greatly appreciated.

Derek,

Its your gun. Taboo is in the eye of the owner first, beholder second. Resale value is another story, however.

You might have better luck with the question over at berettaforum just from the fact that Inox's are like hens teeth around here and there are a lot more Inox owners there.

I've not seen anyone do the mod you are suggesting, but the frame is metal I can't see why it wouldn't polish.

Matching the same polish of stainless to the newly polished aluminum might still not be what you are looking for, or even impossible i.e. you might end up back where you started with dissimilar looking slide and frame just because they are two different metals.

Why?

The Inox finish is very nice, and durable too. Why polish it? You will just ruin it. You must know by now that the frame is aluminum right?
Polish it and you will disturb the finish, it will be uneven, and you will loose the value you have in it so far. Its kinda sorta like refinishing a P38 in nickel. What the hell for?
If you don't like it the way it is, just sell it...

Thanks for all the advice. Ya, I'm aware that the frame is Aluminum and in all honesty I'm pretty happy with it overall. I bought it used and some of the finish is worn off at the front of the frame exposing the bright silver colour underneath. I was king of just hoping i could retore that and give it an even finish all over. I don't want to weaken it so I'll keep it as is. No big deal, it would have happened eventually anyways. It really is quite the looker and fits my hand like a glove. I always read complaints of the large grip, but out of everything I've got I think the Beretta feels the best. It points so naturally and it's got the best iron sights out them all aswell. My 1911 feels great in the hand (maybe a tad thin), but the stock sights seem to low (the front anyways). My Ruger P89 has better sights than the 1911, but has the worst grip out of all of them. I like how raised up the front sight of the Beretta is. I find you can really get on target with it much quicker then the other 2. Well just my 2 cents. I don't want this to turn into a "this gun is better than that gun" discussion and how dare I insult the infamous 1911's sights LOL.

I have the same kind. Most of the time it looks great, but in a certain light I can see a difference. The fact that it's an Italian, straight dust cover, no warning label model makes up for it. :D

Hell yaaaaaaaaaaa. Mine looks exactly like that except for a few blemishes on the frame and that mine has Crimson Trace Laser grips instead of Houges. I'm sure I'll take flack for that. Trust me, I know how to line up Iron Sights. I don't want to hear that people who use Lasers either don't know how to shoot or don't know what they're doing. It's been proven that it's beneficial to have a laser sight incase of a home invasion. You keep the firearm close to your body to prevent an unsuspected take over of your defense. If you come into a hostile situation the red dot tells you where your shot is going without having to outstrech your arms and place your firearm within easy reach of your assailent. I have it for that purpose only. If I'm shooting the gun on my own terms I like the self satisfaction of hitting my target without any assistance. I don't even know why I'm explaining al this right now. My preference shouldn't be anybodies business but myself. Yours looks prestine! I totally despise the new ones with the arched dust cover and black controls, but what do you mean by a no warning label? Matt can you give me a little more info. Mine says made in ITALY on one side and Beretta USA corp on the other. Does that mean that mines Italian? Probably a stupid question when it says made in Italy, but cut me some slack and enlighten a fellow CGN. Thanks for your time.

New ones say something like, "Fires without magazine, see instruction manual for safe use" on the opposite side of where the serial number is.
