Degrease it with something that you KNOW will remove any signs of oil at all and then epoxy on something that raises the release to where you want it to be. Or even just dam it off with a wrap of masking tape and use the epoxy itself to form the extension. Get a good quality slow cure epoxy such as JBWeld or Hysol. But do not use 5 minute as it just does not seem to bond to metal as well.
And remember that the area accepting the epoxy MUST be completely oil and grease free. Brake cleaner does a good job. And do NOT TOUCH IT once it's been wiped clean from the second or third degrease. Your finger oils are enough to affect the joint.
