I have recently aquired an italian 92s. I have a m9a3(92fs) as well. When comparing the two, the 92S doesnt have a firing pin catch lever, ir if it does it isnt in the same place as the 92fs. Its got me wondering what the purpose of this part is?

It prevents the firing pin from moving forward.
The trigger bar engages the catch lever as you pull the trigger and moves it out of the way just before the hammer drops. It’s a safety feature. I think they call that a passive safety.
