Beretta A400 Extreme Plus Choke

I’ve read from a couple of people in the Facebook ‘Beretta A400 Owners’ group, that the Patternmaster Code Black Goose choke isn’t as good as Patternmaster calls for. Just wondering what you prefer for your A400 for shooting geese. Thanks

Doesn't the extrema plus come with briley extended chokes? I don't see how you would top a set of those.

Yes, but isn’t Patternmaster supposed to be top of the line for chokes though. Just found it a little weird that some people weren’t pleased with the new Patternmaster Code Black’s.

I've has patternmasters for 15 years in various guns. I bought the first cause of the advertising. I bought the second cause it was 50% off. They are good chokes. So is about every aftermarket choke out there. I would rather have a carlson 3 back delta waterfoul than 1 patternmaster. Price is close to the same.

The patternmaster does not shorten shot string like they claim. That has been proven with high speed cameras. They pattern tight. They pattern some loads more even than conventional chokes and some tighter than conventional chokes. Some not all. Spending time at the pattern board is far more important than buying a 150 dollar choke and never patterning it. The carlson 3 pack is far more versatile.

In my main waterfoul gun I have a carlson 3 pack and a code black goose. With 3s and 4s the carlson mod and full and the patternmaster are very very close. No difference to write home about. With 2s the carlsons preform as expected and the patternmaster patterns tight but left with every 2 I ever tried. Yes litterly a poi issue. With all 2s. Not with 3s or 4s.

It does the same with bb (left poi) with some loads like federal while the stock chokes and carlsons dont do this. But it patterns very well with some bb loads and poi is perfect. This is all repeatable and has been checked a couple of times.

I did bulge it with bbb steel and they replaced it and told me not to shoot bigger than bb through it again. I was patterning and it only seen 3 loads of bbb steel before I could barely remove it. Imagine a goose choke that can't shoot bbb.......

I have learnt to shoot bbb and even a certain load of bb through the imp cyl. Patterns well and tight but only 1 brand of ammo does this for me. The other brands of bb need a mod. And no other bbb load preforms even close on the pattern board in this gun. There t shot does great too.

Those few hunts a year when the birds are all coming to our feet I shoot an imp cyl choke.

Honestly the best pattern I've gotten was with my A350 is the factory chokes ...
