Looking at both guns in the max-4 camo with kick off and 28" barrels.

1. Beretta A400 Xtreme Unico KO
2. Beretta A391 Xtrema 2 KO

Is the A400 set to take over for the A391 in the near future? What are the main differences in these 2 guns? They have different type of kick-off systems so is one better than the other?

I have an a400. Words are hard to come by for what I think of this shotgun. It is just the best shotgun I have ever used (for an auto loader that is). Last I checked I couldn't find a camo a400.

Both are good shot guns and both will do the job. There are some differences that are very noticeable though. For one the trigger guard on the 391 feels cheap and the safety was stiff on all the different ones I held. The 400 is also more easy to take apart for cleaning. A down side to the 400 is that it only come with 3 chokes and the 391 comes with 5. Altho I find the a modified choke to be best so it is likely all I will use as my 400 is for waterfowl and I have others for upland hunting.

I also like the 400 as it has the blink action which they say is 36% faster bs the standard action. It has a rotating bolt head. I have never needed to fire so fast that I would notice the difference with the action closing quicker but in general compared to my mp153 you can tell the difference.

Lastly the 391 is no longer being made. You won't regret getting an a400!

The Beretta A391 is no longer being made? Ok that answers the question of, will the A400 take over for the A391?

Any word on when we will be getting the A400 Xtreme Unico Max-4 with KO here in Canada?

The a400 xtreme and the 391 xtrema has very similar action, both of which are different from the regular 400 and the 391.

I think they are suppose to arrive anytime. I bought my a400 a few months ago and I was told that they would be in, in a few months.

Beretta moved the KickOff system from the butt of the stock (in Xtrema 2), behind the grip (in A400 Xtreme), which means that when the KO compresses, the stock does not rub against your cheek. (after 50 shots, it does matter).
This was the selling thing for me.
Otherwise, you can't go wrong with either of them, but I agree A400 is great (few minor improvements over Xtrema 2 that make the difference)

??? My 400 Unico has the KO on the butt and gas an additional buffer in the stock.

I have a question guys please help me !!! I am torn between the Beneilli super vinci and the new A400. Lets compare recoil reduction, Reliability and muzzle lift, I am especially wondering about recoil reduction on the 3 1/2 inch heavy loads Insight please?? Hey does anybody know where I could go to try cycling the pair of them for myself and I can feel for myself? Thanks folks!! Happy holidays.

I bought the Beretta Urika II a391 in full camo, oh man i luv it. I live for bird hunting, only got it the last 2 weeks of birding. If I had known the
A400 xtreme came in camo, I would have paid the extra $'s and went all the way. story of my life urghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. hmm maybe I will have to upgrade :) So if anyone not happy with a400 and wants a new condition Beretta in camo, let me know :D

Actually A400 Xtreme is less expensive than Xtrema2... I've got it for $ 1,700 while Xtrema2 is $ 1,900... (there are always special offers, though...)

Super Vinci is an extraordinary gun, but if recoil is your concern, you'll have to go with the A400 Xtreme. MUCH less recoil, comparing the same 3 1/2", 2 Oz shot, #4 turkey load fired from both guns.
Besides, SuperVinci does not cycle reliably light target loads, while A400 Xtreme does.
Cheers,

I've been shooting the Xtrema2 for the past 5 seasons and it's very good at absorbing recoil. This season I had the opportunity to shoot the the A400 Xtreme for a couple weeks. There is no question the Xtreme did a noticeably better job in managing recoil then the Xtrema2. But it's biggest advantage is it points and handles much closer to a SBEII (the nicest handing autoloader I've ever owned), a dramatic improvement over the Xtrema2 which feels like a 2X4 in hand. The only reason I didn't buy an Xtreme this year is Stoeger only got 28" barrels in and I'm waiting for the 26" version.
