I was out looking for a new semi auto 12 gauge today. The Beretta A400 Xplor Action fit me the best. (I have a 391 Urika Gold now). I am looking for feedback from anyone who has one or even the Xplor Unico. I would opt to purchase it with the kick off system. I don't see a need for the gun pod option to keep track of the round count.

Thanks in advance.

The 391 Urika Gold is the better gun and it's built on a proven action. The "new" rotary bolt that Beretta employs is a step backwards IMHO. When the two guns are compared side by side the 391 has a smoother action and doesn't feel so cheap. The 400 especially with the kickoff system really did not impress me at all. Personally, I'd stick with the 391!

I picked up one a couple years ago but have not got to use it nearly as much as I had hoped yet. Had it on a few bunny hunts and skeet days. Have had no hiccups with a variety of ammo and am happy with it. Got it from a site sponsor on sale for a wicked price. Mine has the gun pod but no kickoff and I really can't see needing it for the light skeet loads I use or the occasional shot at birds or bunnies. If one was punching 3" mag heavy loads at ducks or geese all day, sure but for my uses, it wasn't needed.

Gun seems very well built and high quality.

I just bought a Beretta A400 Xtreme Unico Synthetic. I bought this one because it does the 3 1/2 inch shells. The salesmen said that the kick off system is better in the Xtreme then the other A400. He says the normal A400 will feel like a 20 but Xtreme will feel like a 28. Now I have not tried both so I don't know if thats true.

I will say I LOVE this shotgun. It fits me like a glove and the gun just wants to come right up. The recoil on this is way lighter than what I'm use to. Everything has been thought about before they did it. I have shot way better with this then the old Beretta I was using. I bought this A400 last month so it was at the old prices.

After taking this gun apart its just scream quality and its super easy clean. The Xtreme has that cool new B-Lock system with a 1/4 turn that cap comes off. That blink bolt is crazy quick.

I will say this being a bigger gun and being it can take 3 1/2 it stills cycles the skeet and trap loads like normal. Its one of the only semis that can do big shells but also can cycle lighter loads.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. VLT79, the Xplor just seems to setup for me a bit better primarily because (I believe) of the raised rib. I will have another look at my 391 and test the various shims to find the best setup. steveber, I did a bit more reading and the Xtreme has the Kick Off 3 which reduces recoil felt in the stock. The Xplor has an older version of the Kick Off and does not include that feature. Thanks again.

I bought an A400 Xplor Action last fall to use mostly for skeet. It has the gunpod but not the kickoff. I just did a detailed cleaning on it after just over 1900 rounds because the Sunday before I had 2 FTF. Very easy to clean with no major carbon build up anywhere. The gun will cycle anything that I have fed it, from 3/4 oz. light loads, 7/8 oz. Clever's, Challenger light loads and Challenger handicap loads and Remington Gun Clubs. This gun will kick out the empties almost to the next skeet station.
