So I got rid of my beloved AICS AX .308 for a Beretta A400 Xtreme 12 gauge semi shotgun. WOW! What a difference from my 870. Next to zero recoil, light, quick to target, fast to shoot, and music to my ears.

We shot two boxes of Winchester 1250fps target load, a box of Remington #4 1550fps, and a box of Winchester PDX1Elite rifled slugs 1600fps. The A400 ate everything and cycled flawlessly. My sons girlfriend shot off 6 rounds of the 1550's, and barely felt a thing. What an impressive shotgun. I am very pleased, and consider this a lifetime shotgun.

A big thank you to CGN'er rlaunay for the deal. He was easy to deal with and communication was crystal clear.

I had this shotgun for a few months now. LOVE IT. just one key when breaking the gun in. Read the manual. It says to shoot nothing but 1 1/8 oz loads. Right here
Beretta recommends: To immediately obtain superior firearm performance and
optimum cartridge versatility from your A400, fire some medium power
cartridges fi rst (32g / 1 1/8 oz).

Also forgot to add I know someone who did not break this gun in. Now the bolt does not come all the way back. After the last shell the bolt should stay open and his does not. He needs the big shells to make it stay open. It reloads just does not come all the way back.

I am fortunate the previous owner did all the break in for me. The shotgun was well taken care of.

I emailed Stoeger Canada about a rifled barrel option for slugs, and Peter Smith replied :

" At this time there is not a rifled barrel available for any of the various A400 models. We have asked Beretta for this barrel but they have not said if they might have it available for this fall. My guess would be that it won’t be available this year."

Hopefully we will get something sooner rather than later.

Pretty tough to beat a H+R single slug gun or an 870 slug gun.

Lots of accuracy and half the price of a "
B" semi slug barrel.

True, it is half the price. I chose the Beretta because it has all the features I wanted in a shotgun. Don't get me wrong, I plan on a rifled barrel for my 870, but that is only until Beretta makes one. I have no problem using the Beretta for most of my hunting needs.
