Hey guys, I am looking for a semi auto for hunting ducks and geese, it may also be used for turkey and pheasents but waterfowling will be its main duty. I have a budget of around $1200 for this gun which is why I have excluded the Xtrema-2 and SBE-II which are around $1800.

I realize the Beretta is a 3" and the Remington is a 3.5" but I was just wondering if I could get away with the 3" for waterfowl duty. I have excluded the Browning Maxus and the Winchester SX3 because they don't fit me at all.

If you had $1200 to spend which gun would you be putting your money towards? Thanks

I picked up a Urika 2 today.. 28" barrel, Max-4 camo dipped finish and the 5 chokes. Was $1200 + tax. Great fitting shotgun for me.. I'm 6' 2" with average arm length.

3" chamber is perfect for me as I don't think I really need the 3.5".

I also got a Urika 2 in camo with the kickoff a couple months ago to use for geese, turkey and some trap. Its my first semi and an awesome shotgun. If you have to have 3.5", although I dont think you need it, I've seen the Extrema on sale for $1259 at BassPro a month ago. I'd go with the Beretta, a proven model over a new design any day.

The Beretta is a proven platform from a company with a reasonable reputation for quality products.

The Remington is a new and uproven product from a company rife with quality control issues.

I don't shoot 3-1/2" and don't see the need for it. If I did I'd still buy a Beretta over anything made by Remington.

I picked up a Urika II Synthetic from Clay when he had them for $995. Great shotgun for the $$.

If your going to Hunt in the Kitchen you will need to work on your Camo.

i have the Versa Max,and though they were recalled(not mine)the problem has been resolved. i took it to the trap range in the summer and it cycled everything from 1 0z trap loads to 1 1/4 waterfowl loads. softest shooting gun i have ever handled. i have shot the Urika and a Benelli M2. the Remington fits me better and i shoot it well.good luck with whatever you buy.
