Does Beretta make a model with a barrel 18.5" or longer? I want something cheaper to shoot gophers and other varmits with than my .223 rifles. And no I don't want to shoot em with 22lr doesn't make a big enough mess of the critters for my liking.

you mean CX4? and for that they don't make a longer barrel

Epps and bits of pieces can make and install a barrel that can make it non-restricted

My buddy bought a CX4 from Epps in Ontario and he had an 18" barrel put on it so it would be non-restricted. Cost him a couple of hundred bucks to do it but for him it was well worth it. He doesn't like restricted firearms due to the extra hassle although he does put up with it for several handguns he wanted.

The barrel exchange and re-verification is around $475, although it may have changed with the dollar all over the place. The gunsmithing is very well done, and the barrel is heavier than stock, they mucked up my paperwork, so you need to stay on top of them. I love this gun and I would recommand the barrel swap.

Colin can you just buy the longer barreled version from Epps directly so I would never have to register it as a restricted to begin with? I would pay the extra cash if they did that.

I think you still place your order and they do the conversion and all the paperwork for you. It is delivered as a non-restricted rifle. It just costs ~$500.

Same here allthough the wait was longer. If you buy the gun there, it will be registered to you as a nonrestricted once the barrel is in. If you buy it and send it off, you buy it as a restricted and get it back as a non-restricted. Make sure when you order the Storm that it comes with the top rail, not all do. Buying it afterward costs more.

mrsmitty - helluva mess guaranteed! Gophers - hmm, 115 grain hollow point bullet at 1500fps, yeah... I would recommend custom heavy profile barrel (it costed me some 500+) and get into reloading. Factory loads are a bit too anemic.

Can someone post a pic of their rifle with the extended barrel and mounted sight? I've seen the catalog type pics, but I'd prefer a photo from a member.

Target shot at 50 yards, not the best one but gives an appreciation of quality

This is light non-restricted barrel also available from Bits of Pieces

Barry, do not thank me, just mail me a cheque.

google "bits of pieces" it will be first on top of search results. Heavy barrel is front heavy no doubt. What you see on a picture is not what barrel is like all the way inside - its much thicker inside than original but not as heavy as outer portion of it. Its rather "muzzle weighted". It doesn't make Beretta super accurate but groups shrunk in half nevertheless. Plus, I feel a bit more confident firing my hot-loaded ammo knowing there is a lot of meat in that barrel and in worst case I will see primer pierced.
