I bought a Beretta model 86 Cheetah .380, new and unfired off EE a couple weeks ago; other people may have kept this gun for the past 15 or so years without firing it, I’m not one of them….straight out to the firing line. Sweet little gun and very nice looking too. Unfortunately, just like my trusty google-foo warned me, the grip medallions fell off within the first magazine; I found one, lost the other. The gun now has the look of a beautiful girl with two missing teeth.
The question is, of course, where can I source grip medallion from? I called Beretta USA and they told me that even if they shipped to Canada, which they don’t, they don’t sell the medallions separate. I can’t find any mention on the internet either.
I can maybe find whole new grips, but that seems like a little much and, if they’re NOS, they would have the same, old, crappy glue.
Any suggestions?
The other option that occurred to me would be to replace them with gold coins; I have a couple of Canada 1/10 oz 24k gold coins that look to be pretty close in size; I’m thinking maybe the Queen’s head out on one side and whatever the picture is on the other side (be nice if it was a maple leaf, but I don’t think so), any opinions? Cheesy? Classy? Stupid? Pimpy?....i don’t know, and, of course, once I glue them in, there’s no going back.

Thanks

The gold coins would look neat, but that would be about $300 for the weight in gold alone. At that point I'd look into different grips maybe? It's too bad Beretta wouldn't just stick a couple in an envelope and let you install them yourself!

Exactly!....Maybe they're worried about counterfeiting? The coins I have and they're actually about $90 each...still pricey for a set of grips but I figure I'll still own them so it's not quite like throwing money away. As for new grips, Numrich has the plastic ones and Houge doesn't list any for the 86.

you could contact Stoeger Canada...see if they can hook you up. They're supposedly the beretta guys in Canada...although I've never been too impressed with them myself. Worth a shot I guess.

I will try those, Stoeger was who Beretta referred me to however, their statement that they do not sell the medallions separate seemed pretty firm....
