Beretta M92S 9MM Vs. Glock 22 .40

Shoot each one. Then, you will know for yourself. I think you're comparing a 9mm with a .40. The guns really can't be compared because the recoil of the Glock 22 will be quite a bit snappier than that of the Beretta 9mm.

Better? I think the Beretta is better looking than the Glock. The Glock triggers tickle my fingers in a weird way.

The Glock is lighter in weight, but since I don't CCW at the local mall, who cares?

Just Goggle the two words "beretta glock". You'll be reading opinions for hours. But still, you must fire them yourself to really know.

How much is it worth used? Check the used listings.

Actually, I'm I'm thinking about buying a Glock.

both are great firearms....try and see which one fits your hands better. I have owned few of each and the Glock fits better for me, the grip is smaller.

I got both, love them.
I hate the Beretta trigger... too much slack.
I tuned the Glock to just under 3lb.. now it is amazing!

can't compare really.... it is not apples to apples.

it also depends what will you be shooting. I shoot IDPA more than anything else.
some people dont like the Glock's grip. I don't mind it.

again. shoot both (or buy both), and decide for yourself, then keep the one you like most.

and if you are thinking Glock, then don't ignore the Walther p99. I regret selling that puppy. Actually I regret selling any gun. never again!

Cannot stand your Glock's Grip :)
As for the 92, just finally saw one break (9mm too) last Tuesday. Broke a lug on the slide block. You have to try them to differentiate. I do like mrefaat's trigger on the glock though. Very sweet for that hunk of polymer. The biggest item on the Glock is the grip angle is a little steeper than most. (If you completely adore 1911's and their grips, the glock will feel alien to you IMHO). But the Glock 22 and the Beretta 92 are like mrefaat says. Apples and Oranges. Get out and try both.

I wanted to know what you guys think about the Berretta M92S how much is it worth used and do you think it is better than a Glock 22
By specifying a 92 "S", are you referring to those Italian-made Police surplus guns... either the ones that Lever Arms has brought in or ones that other dealers have brought in? The "normal" Beretta in North America tends to be an "FS".

By comparing the 92S with the Glock 22 (cross-calibre comparision  ), I'm thinking that you are talking police surplus Glock 22's vs. police surplus Berettas. Lever had some surplus Glocks awhile back, and they were all 22's. Do they have some more in now?

The downside with those Italian-made 92S is the archaic black metal sights with no markings on them (like an old War-time revolver - just a notched piece of black metal in the back and an unremovable black blade in the front). The other downside is the Euro-style mag release (on the bottom), meaning that you can't use standard Beretta mags. My girlfriend bought one of the 92G's from Lever. We felt that the "G" was the best choice. A bit more wear, but good sights and normal mags.

On surplus Glock 22's... the ones I have seen have had more holster wear than anything. If you buy one, ideally you would be able to at least field strip it and check out the guts for any problems. If you can't do that before buying, you're taking a bit of a gamble. Glocks usually hold up well if they are taken care of properly... but then again... .40 cal. Glocks have a somewhat infamous reputation.

If you are a new shooter... try and at least handle both guns. As others have said, they are really apples and oranges. Beretta is bigger and heavier. I personally don't believe that .40 cal. makes a lot of sense for regular old (non-IPSC style) target shooting. The ammo costs more, the gun is harder to master, and the stress on the gun (on Beretta, the locking block, on a Glock, possible Kaboom) is more.

I would not pay more than about $550 for one of these surplus guns. Maybe $600 if it was a really incredible "minty" specimen. Otherwise it is better to save a couple more hundred and get a Glock 17 or new Beretta 92FS (or another of the many, many guns in the same $800 price range).

i don't know if you can still get them, but usa mag made a crossover mag with a heel catch hole and the current side catch slots- if you can't, a standard side catch, a block of wood( read take the mag apart) and a dremel or drill will do- use the one that came with the gun as a template and make a hole in the side slotted version- use the block of wood as a backing plate so you don't bend the walls of the mag you're modifying

all current production Beretta factory mags have both slots for the different mag releases.

Beretta vs Glock

You have to decide (1) which fits your hand the best and (2) which ctg you want to go with.

They are both good choices in pistols & ctgs.
