hey guys i was just wondering if the mag holders for 9mm pistols are usually specific to the brand or type of pistol or are the holders pretty much universal to all types or brand of mags. i want to buy a beretta m9 and i was wondering if anyone has a preferred mag holder for that pistol

Most are specific to a type of handgun , the only 2 that come to mind off hand that are universal are the ITW fast mag and the High Speed Gear Taco mag pouch , the last one is more for a battle belt or other molly gear.

Do you mean the plastic/kydex stuff? Any mag holder for a double stack mag will take any double stack mag (and if it has adjustable tensioners, it will even fit fatter ones like Glocks). Otherwise, they will say "for single stack mags" which will fit the Sig 220/1911 style.
I've bought 5.11, Blackhawk and Uncle Mikes originally for all my 9mms (4 of them) and my Glock 20 and they all work just fine. I even competed perfectly fine for years in IPSC and IDPA and 3 gun. I've moved on to HSGIs now, but that's because I like gear; not because the mag holders weren't working well.

I bought a Safariland double mag holder (black leather/pleather) for my Beretta M9 NIB of e-Bay and the best M9 holster in the entire world lol....a BlackHawk Black leather made in Italy for M9 fits like a glove has retention strap that snaps behind lowered hammer .....Amazing holster for the Beretta M9 ....you won't find a better fit.
