Can anyone out there give me some info. on the Beretta Model 89 .22? I'm going to have a look at a very slightly used one (maybe 150-200 rds fired) and the asking price is $400 Cdn. Is that a good deal and is it a decent rimfire for target shooting at my local club? Any input would be appreciated. Cheers.

If you dont want it I will take it! That is a great 22lr pistol and worth the $400. Do you know the year of manufacture? Do you have both the wood and black grips with it? How many mags are you getting with it? Good luck on your deal and please PM me if you dont want it as I would want a chance at it. Not too many on the EE.(equipment exchange). Welcome to CGN, TJS. You will do great with that for target pratice. If not try a Ruger 22/45 for the same price range. Cheers Mike

Hey Man thanks for the info. and quick reply. I'm going to have a look at it tonight so I'll get the year of mfg and what will come with it and let you know. I'll put a few hundred rds through it and if I'm not happy with it I'll let you have first crack at it. Cheers.

This is more than a good deal, it's a "steal". Grab it while it's available. :)

My buddy has a Beretta 89, it's a fine target pistol that compares closely to the S&W model 41. Beretta discontinued this gun a a few years back & replaced it with the 87 which is a much lower quality of fit & finish.

I think there is a good supply of parts maintained for the 89, if you will ever need them.:D

The 89's are really great pistols, I love mine. Extremely accurate and they have a unique feel to them, different than many others, such as a S&W 41 (which I also have, among other 22's). It feels more like an IPSC standard or open pistol with a fair bit of weight in the front, rather than a lighter weight barrel of a typical 22. Disadvantage is the 8 round mags.

$400 is a smoking deal, if you don't want it, I will take it.

Thanks for the first crack at it.:) You will likely fall in love with it but if for whatever reason it doesn't fit your hand I will more than happy take the deal. Please PM me if you dont take it! Injoy taking it out tonight and I hope that if you do get it you have a great time with it! Dont forget to post a picture if you do get it. Good luck! Cheers Mike

$400????????????????? That's a very good price. FWIW, there was one at a local consignment shop that sold for 850.00 with two magazines. It's a very nice pistol. I don't own one but I have its successor, the 87T, which, in my opinion, isn't as nice as the 89. I'll put dibs on this if no one else wants it!!

Hey Guys,
Thank you all for your input, just got back from having a look at it and decided to take it. It's in great shape, a little wear on the bluing on the top of the front sight is all(but it has extras)and in need of a good cleaning, other than that very nice. Comes with 2 clips, a set of allen keys for sight, trigger and barrel wt. adjustments, manual and 2extra front post sights.
I really like the weight and feel but also like the 'exposed' hammer so there's no need to dry fire it to ease the springs. Really like how easy it comes apart for cleaning, anyone with a Ruger Mk11 will understand what I'm talking about...sold mine a couple years back for that reason alone. 10 rd clips would be nice but whatta you gonna do. Comes with a nice large walnut grip which fits my hand perfrectly but one seems to be a little loose fitting......should be an easy fix. Thanks again for your responses....Cheers and I'll let you know how I do with it and what adjustments I need to play around with so I can hit the paper!

Congrats on your new pistol! You got a great deal on that one and it is a quality pistol. Wish I had found this deal:( but glad that a fellow CGNer got it:) You should be able to get some great groups with that one! Hope to see some pictures in the near future. Cheers Mike

Will do Mike....I'll get some pictures up as soon as the paperwork comes through and I have it in my hands....and as soon as I figure out how to post them! Cheers.

Any ideas as to where I can get myself some non-slip pistol grips for it? In the Toronto area would be nice but web or mail order would work as well. Cheers.
