Lenght of recoil travel + bolt weight, those are the 2 main reasons.

A several years back, I have seen the Italian military trial a cx4 sub gun in .40. This was before Beretta's cx4 contract with India and South Africa and before the Italian economy and Parliament went to hell in a hand basket so I knew these were out there in one form of another. I love my cx4 and such as in close quarter combat, there is no advantage in running an AR when 3 gunning. When I use to run 3 gun, I just love the lighter platform and not having to carry the AR mags.

It’s too bad that Beretta never came out with a semi-auto version, especially since the 16” version is already restricted. I like my CX4, but a short-barreled on would be awesome.
