I'm in the market for a good competition grade O/U. So far beretta guns has always given me the best performances. And I'm thinking about sticking with beretta for an O/U.

Anyone has any suggestions? My limit is $5000.

Was looking at a 682 E Gold Trap with the adjustable comb and "memory" system...

Anyone know anything about that particular gun?

I've owned a couple of the older 682s, a Super Sport and a 682X trap gun. Both of them were good, solid guns. I know many people shooting the GoldE and haven't heard many complaints. The main difference between the E series and older models are the Optima bored barrels which are a little lighter than the old Mobile choked guns and some cosmetic differences. I can't comment on the adjustable comb but know a couple people with them and haven't heard of any problems.

In the $5,000 range, the other gun that I would look at is the Blaser F3. It's a little more expensive than the 682E but I was impressed with the two that I've handled. Very nice guns.

gasan, if you are in bby .. drop by royalsportsman, they have 682/F3 in stock you can fondle before making your up your mind...

The 682 Gold E X Trap won gold in the men's double trap event at the last Olympics. I have over 20,000 rounds through mine without any issues (touch wood). I have never felt that I have lost a shoot because of gun, and it throws very tight patterns from both barrels to the same point of aim.The only guns I would think of replacing it with would be a DT-10 or a Perazzi MX-8, both of which will stretch your stated budget.

You can't go wrong with a 682E, they are a great gun that should last a long time.
The F3 as Claybuster said is a nice gun as well, but I was under the impression that the trap model was not avaiable in Canada yet but I may be wrong.

The other option would be a Browning Citori XT trap combo. I recently saw oneof these and the guy bringing them in is from BC. It was sweet and in that price range.

Gasanwu :

You're on the right track ... the 682 Gold E is a fine gun and will do all you need. I would just as soon have a good "older" 682 Gold (Mobil choke version) as I would the newer Optima ... the wood & so-called "checkering" on the newer 682 Gold E's leaves a lot to be desired.

The Blaser F3 will be a little more expensive - and is also a fine shotgun. Jacky is right, it is not yet offered in an "American Trap" version, so far, just a "Game" "Competition Sporting" and "Competition Trap" ( International Trap/Doubles Trap) version. Have shot one ( a 32" Sporter" ) and seen one completely apart. Impresssed on both counts, well designed, well made and great triggers) ... but still prefer my 6 year old DT10.

Sharptail: Don't pass-up the right ASE 90 if you get the chance !
IMHO they are better made & finished than the DT10, (just pull the trigger group and you'll see what I mean) and there is little meraningful "practical" difference between the Optima & Mobil systems ! ( Lots of "silverware" won with them too at the International level !) Right now, IF you can find one, they are priced right ... and a Lot less than they were when they were new.
( Big difference between 91 cent and 70 cent CDN $$$ )

my dad just had his LH 682 E gold trap come in after an 8 month wait from italy (he's not sure if this is how long it actually took, or if russell's just forgot to order for a few months). it is a beautiful gun and he loves it. it also comes with a nice compact case and accessories.

I have the 682 Gold E X trap and it is a great gun. Unlike many I like the round checkering and the wood is well figured. The grip is a little thick for my taste though. Very solid and well built.

Maybe you wanna wait for the new Marrochi (model zero 3 and 99)that will be soon available in Canada. You can have a look at them at www.marocchiarms.com. Send me a PM if you wanna know where they will be available (I don't want to use that Forum for free advertisments).
