Hi all,

For a while I have been thinking about getting a O/U shotgun and this was after I tried a buddies Beretta S54. What I really liked about this shotgun was the fact that it had a ambidextrous opening latch, and it had this really unique trigger which I haven't seen anywhere else.

From what I understand this was a lower end Beretta shotgun which sold horribly and the stock they had left was refinished and sold under a different model name. Basically what I was wondering is how much would one of these be worth as it is a uncommon shotgun to say the least and I don't know too much about shotgun pricing in the first place. Here is a picture of the weird trigger on it in case you are all interested.

Any information that can be provided on these shotguns would be appreciated.

Those guns were made prior to 1980 (that is when the 680 series guns came out). Very little parts availability on those old guns, so, I wouldn't buy one unless you plan to not shoot it ... priced accordingly.

What parts tend to go on a over under? I really don't know much about shotguns, just shoot my 870 from time to time, and the last couple times I have been to the range, clay shooting has really increased in appeal for me.

The one my buddy had I was hitting every clay with every shot. Pricewise, are we talking the 400$ area or the 1600$ type area, I really have no clue when it comes to shotguns and to my inexperienced eye what appears to be the same shotgun can be several thousand dollars apart.

Parts wear based on the use of the gun. Shooting clays, because of the volume, will wear a gun more quickly. It will depend on how much you shoot it. Locking blocks, ejector and trigger parts will wear and or break. The current version of that gun will cost around $4,000. I would buy that gun before I would buy a new cheap O/U, but you have to be prepared to pay a few bucks to repair it when / if it breaks. I'm thinking the pictured gun would sell for $400 to $500.

Thanks for the advice, i'll likely just stick with my 870 for the moment then. I don't really shoot shotgun enough to really justify the expense, I have put maybe 500rds through my current one over the course of 3 years.
