What can you tell me about the Beretta Semi Automatic Pistol - 92S being sold from Italian police surplus?

Is a police pistol in Italy carried a lot but not shot much, as in only to requalify for service carry? Or do they practice a lot?

What are the quirks about the pistol?

Is that a big deal?

If you are used to modern semi auto mag releases, AND you use your gun for competition then yes. If you just want a fun, reliable gun for plinking and bench shooting, then no. The Beretta mag catch is actually a button and not a clip style, like most European handguns of that era. I suppose, if you holster the gun, there is a chance you could bump the button and drop your mag accidentally.

Also, due to the mag catch position, you need specific S series mags. Regular 92F, SB, FS mags won’t work.

Easy there big fella. Beretta mags for the 92fs and newer series will fit the S as they have the bottom cut out. Off brands made for the 92 series may or may not have the bottom cut out.

Take Care
