I was recently browsing the interwebs for info, and came across this link for Beretta Customer Support: http://w ww.berettasupport.com/applications/tech_data/schematics_search_new.htm.

It allows you to look up your serial number, and it will display its info, along with links for your user's manual, parts/schematics (via Brownells), and brochure.

I plugged in a serial # from a 96D I picked up from a sponsor a few years ago as a police trade-in, and it shows some cool info!

Serial Number: ######XX
Model: SPEC0081A
Product Description: M96 SPECIAL- VANCOUVER PD
Approximate Manufacture Date: 1996
Parts Listing: Parts
Owners Manual: Manual
Product Brochure or Literature: Brochure

If only every gun maker would do this. I'm not sure why they all obfuscate this information.

LOL, it's not quite on the ball for older serial numbers. I tried the serial number for a little Beretta .22 prohib and here are the results:

Serial Number: ######
Model: JRMBG31
Product Description: A7 Big Game 300 WIN MAG
Approximate Manufacture Date: 2013
Parts Listing: Parts
Owners Manual: Manual
Product Brochure or Literature: Brochure

Not quite what I was expecting. :p ;) :D
