I have a 9mm unrestricted Storm sitting in front of me and as I ponder how to blow up random varmints with it, I wonder... can this 9mm be converted to a 357sig by reaming the chamber and using 40SW mags ? As more of stretch, could a 40SW storm have the chamber reamed so as to shoot 10mm (although I know the mags might be a big problem.....). I guess the same goes for converting the 9mm to a 38 super...

I had a storm with a "legal length" barrel. I see no reason why you couldn't have a .357Sig barrel made from scratch.
The best part is that once you have the tool to remove the barrel nut, you can swap STORM barrels in less than a minute.

Since many guns can swap out the .40cal for a 357Sig barrel it would seem doable, mind for the price of 357Sig, make sure you get both barrels as the 40cal will save you $400 in 357 ammo in a short time!!

Out of that barrel, using 9mm +P's or +P+'s would generate a lot of velocity so that going to 357 Sig may not benefit you that much.
It's a neat idea, but pistol caliber carbines are short range carbines. 9mm should do the trick out to around 80 yds, and if you require more than that then you should be getting a 223.

Anybody wanna venture a guess at an effective range of hot 357sig rounds (or as they would compare to 9mm +P+ out of an 18.5in barrel) ?

Whats the working pressure on .357 sig and 10mm? The storm is a straight blow back isn't it? Wouldn't you need to up bolt mass or a stronger action spring to slow the opening time down? You might get away with the Sig (very similar to +P+ 9mm but still hotter, bet you could get close to 2000 fps with hand loads and slower powder in a 18.5 barrel) but i thing the 10mm would take modifications......
I would *guess* (and this is a very un-scientific guess, and very ill informed!):
A 125gr 357 Sig has a muzzle velocity of ~1350fps, and a 9mm 124gr +P ~1223fps (both out of a 4.25" barrel).
In a rifle they say that you gain 50fps for every 1" increase in barrel length. The only test that I can remember for pistols was where people saw a 60fps change in a revolver when moving from a 4" to a 6" barrel.
In reality this would be a complex mathematical formula, and so at best I would guess that you may gain around 30fps per 1" out of both calibers, but I would have no idea what the maximum attainable velocity would be (there has to be a point where you max out - otherwise you could have a 200" barrel shooting out 9mm slugs at rifle velocities!).
So would I be right in saying that out of a 19" barrel you could be looking at a gain of around 420fps by shooting both calibers, so maybe 1770fps for the 357 Sig and 1550fps for 9mm +P?

They make a .40S&W version of the Storm, so a .357SIG would use the same everything - the .40 would be a perfect platform to do the swap on.
I don't know if the 9x19 version uses the same springs, etc.; check the bolt face on your 9mm Storm to make sure a .40 cartridge can get in there ok (the fit).
