Well, I had them both out this weekend, and was VERY happy with them. The Hakim trainer was very accurate, only just behind the Super Sport. Compared to my other 22's these two are now pick of the litter in the accuracy dept. A load of fun to shoot, and fun to show off with the others at the range. I am really glad I picked these up...

I just bought/saved a Hakim trainer the other night. It has been "bubba smithed" real good. The safety, rear sight adjustment, dummy mag and original trigger guard have been removed. The fore end wood got cut in half, chiseled out and reversed to make some kind of AK looking furniture. I hope to get the metal parts some day but I figure I have to make the wood from scratch. Hopefully some day I can get this back to original and put it beside my Hakim's and Rasheed. There is a brass presentation plate on the butt with the date 1-11-56 on it. The writing does not appear to be Arabic but I really have no idea. Any thoughts as to why a plate is on a .22 trainer. War capture? Retirement gift? Any ideas would be helpful.

The plate probably commemorates the ending of the "Suez Crisis." France, Britain and Israel had occupied the canal zone in response to Egypt nationalizing the Suez canal. They were forced to withdraw in Nov 1956 by the UN. The writing on the plate is most likely Egyptian

Thanks guys. I figured the Suez crisis but what the heck is a .22 doing close enough to the action to be captured? There must be an interesting story behind this. This winter should be a good time to try and get it shooting again. I'll let you know how it goes.
