You will love it,
I bought mine in late May, and have put over 5000 rounds through it now. Never missed a beat. Lots of fun, used it mostly for trap, but shot a few rounds of skeet and sporting clays for fun.
Yes Thad, that is a very interesting gun with very nice wood. For the price of one though around $4000 out the door. I think Beretta could have done a better job with the checkering. The "pressed" checkering really cheapens the gun. Beretta could have done better than that. Not a gripe against you or your gun. Just a rant against Beretta.
It is one of the lowest recoiling shotguns around! The checkering is NOT pressed, LASER. There are a lot of LASER checkering and so called engraving ie: CG among others. Beretta still uses mechanical presses do its engraving on lower priced guns. There is also being used oil pressure chambers to oil wood stocks just like pressure treated wood. Look at some the mass market guns to be done that way, but NOT Beretta!
Exceptionally few guns today under 5k that have decent hand-cut checkering, and/or a real hand-rubbed oil finish. Laser (burned) checkering is showing up more & more. With what the average guy does to a Trap gun ... I wouldn't be overly concerned about it ... and it's not much different than you find on a 682 GoldE.
The "UGgie" balances well and is a pure pleasure to shoot.
The different mechanics of it being broken open and loaded are
a little akward at first, but soon become almost second nature and comfortable. I was quite impressed with the one I shot at
5-Stand. Just crunches targets !
Lets not get carried away now The Caesar Guerini is the nicest firearm in my collection. Time will tell how this baby shoots, needless to say I cannot wait. When Beretta announced it would be released in 2005 I was ready at that time to buy, when they said they had bugs to work out I had no idea I would be waiting four years I am very happy with the looks and feel of this shotgun so far.
This gun will be going out on Tuesday for some trap practice.I will keep you guys posted.
Shot 150 rounds through this shotgun today. Smashes clays with the IM choke no problem at 16,20,and 27 yards. Shot one round of doubles and it was pretty cool to use the second shot carrier and see it work. It did have very little recoil but took a bit of getting used to getting on the second bird. This I think was only because it was a new gun to get used to shooting. Zero complaints about this beauty.
